Cyclelogik // HPP Pro triathlete Jordan Monnink took first place at Multisport Canada Barrelman Triathlon on September 17, 2017. This marks his third time competing in the event placing on the podium each time. On his third outing, Jordan finally took first place winning the Long Course Provincial Championship title.
Jordan Monnink posted the fastest run time on the course giving himself a solid 2 minute lead over rival Daniel Clarke. 2017 has been a breakout year for Monnink taking not only the Provincial title but also 3rd place at Ironman Mont-Tremblant, his first full distance long course event.
His season began with a 15th place finish at Ironman 70.3 California against a strong field that featured star Canadian triathlete Lionel Sanders, Andy Potts, and Chris Leiferman among others. From there Jordan went on to place second overall at The Ottawa Race Weekend Half Marathon with a personal best of 1:13:55.
Throughout July and August Jordan shifted focus from 70.3 events in order to attempt his first ever full distance Ironman event. Having never run a full marathon in his life, Jordan Monnink went into the race hoping to do his best and walked away with a stunning 3rd place finish with a second fastest run split of the day.
His result this past weekend in Niagara Falls was the culmination of a strong season and excellent training under HPP coach Ian Fraser.
Not to be outdone HPP athlete Jess D. finished the Barrelman Triathlon with a PB of 5:58:42 breaking 6 hours in the half distance for the first time! She shaved over an hour off her previous PB!
